Sometimes we despise our personalities or blush at our reactions. No one else seems to think about something the way we do.
“Why cant I just be normal?” we groan. “I just want to fit in.”
But, what if it’s our spiritual gifts motivating us to respond that way?
What if we are the only one that can show the rest of the world what we see?
Jesus functioned perfectly in all the gifts. Now, this perfect Guy lives in us, still wanting to reach out to the world. And these days, He chooses to reach others through us.
His design is for each of us to live our lives in our unique way. Be yourself. Discover your gifts. Discover the dimensions of your likeness to Jesus. Unleash yourself into the world. We need you.
The Same But Different
Billy Graham the international stadium preacher operated in the gift of evangelism. Whereas, Jim Elliot’s evangelism gift landed him in the jungles of Ecuador on mission to reach the Huaorani people. Each evangelist had a totally different and profound impact in the world.
No one can do what you were designed to do.
What are your gifts? Where do they all rank in the landscape of your personality and calling?
These gifts are our internal point of reference. We see and serve the world from this point of view, unconsciously.
Knowing what motivates us helps us answer why. Why do we see situations one way and our best friend sees it another way? Why can’t he just clean up the mess with me (serving gift) instead of telling me what to do (administration gift)?

Leaders in our churches are the obvious examples operating in these gifts. But we can all function in these roles on some level. Think of the modern-day small group leader. Or the parent.
These gifts work in us to mature and perfect others. They aim to acquaint us all fully with God.
